The Ice Castles Are Back for the 2020 Season at Hawrelak Park

The Ice Castles in Edmonton's Hawrelak Park will not return for the 2022 season. Last winter I packed up the kids and we headed up to Edmonton to visit the Ice Castles with my parents, and what an experience it was! If you have the chance to visit, you should…just for the photo ops alone!


Discover Edmonton's Ice Castles AMA

Tickets to the Ice Castles are $16.95 for ages 12+ and $12.95 for children ages 4 -11. Tickets can also be bought at the door but, they'll be more expensive. Prices at the door for ages 12+ will be $20 whereas children ages 4-11 will be $15. Hours of operation will be Mondays to Thursdays 3 pm to 9 pm, 3 pm - 10 pm on Fridays, 12 pm - 10 pm on.


Giant Ice Castle opens in Edmonton News

This acre-sized icy attraction in Hawrelak Park in Edmonton takes around five weeks of growing, harvesting, and hand-placing up to 10,000 icicles to build the annual ice castle. It takes 25 million pounds of ice to build the castle! The icicles are sprayed with water repeatedly until the walls of the ice castle reach around 30 feet.
